An open dataset of passport and visa photo rules
Machine-readable photo rules for 49 passport, visa and ID documents: size, head height, eye line, background, glasses and editing rules — each with the official government source it was checked against. It is the data that powers this site, published in full under CC BY 4.0 so anyone can check it, correct it or build on it.
What makes it different from a size chart
Most published passport photo tables are copied from each other and carry no provenance. This one records where every figure came from and when it was last checked.
- Every record names its source.
officialSourceis the issuing authority's own page, not a competitor's blog post. - Every record is dated.
lastVerifiedandverificationStatussay when it was checked and what was checked. - Missing values are declared, never guessed. Where an authority publishes
no head-height figure,
headHeightBasisrecords that the range falls back to ICAO guidance instead of silently inventing a number.
