Pakistan specifics
Do you bring your own photo for a Pakistani passport?
Not for an in-person application. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) lists the steps at a Regional Passport Office or a Pakistan mission abroad: after the customer service counter comes capturing of photograph with token issuance, then fingerprints and data entry. The Embassy of Pakistan in Belgrade puts it directly: no photographs or forms are required separately, because biometrics and a digital photograph are taken at the mission. For a پاسپورٹ (passport) or the newer ای پاسپورٹ (e-passport) applied for in person, a printed تصویر (photo) stays at home.
The exception is the online renewal portal at onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk, which DGI&P currently offers to applicants outside Pakistan. There you capture or upload your own photograph, and this is where the tool earns its place: it crops to the 45 mm by 35 mm proportions the portal asks for, replaces the background with plain white, and exports a JPEG. Keep the file under the portal's 5 MB limit and within the 350 x 467 pixel, 3 MB figure on the DGI&P e-Services page, then run it through the portal's Photograph Verification tool.
Where to print a Pakistani passport photo in Pakistan
Since the office photographs you, the passport itself rarely needs a print; you may still want copies for other forms. Two online printers publish 2026 prices on their own pages:
- Stationeria (stationeria.pk) lists passport size photo printing at PKR 300 for 9 images and PKR 500 for 18, with cash on delivery across Pakistan.
- Geonline (geonline.pk) sells 48 ID photos, 32 at 1 x 1 inch and 16 at 2 x 1.5 inch, listed at PKR 250 marked down from PKR 400; these are not the 35 x 45 mm passport size.
Local studios print 35 x 45 mm photos while you wait, but none of the studio pages we checked publish a price. If you print the tool's 4 x 6 inch sheet, ask for glossy photo paper so the white background stays clean.
Why DGI&P rejects photos
- A photo cut down from a larger picture, or edited in software such as Photoshop.
- Older than six months, out of focus, or not a close-up of your full head and shoulders.
- A background that is not plain white, or weak contrast between you and the background.
- Not facing forward, head turned, mouth open, or anything covering the face.
- Eyes closed, covered by hair, sunglasses, tinted glasses or frames, or showing glare from glasses.
- Shadows in the picture, red eye, or other people or objects in the frame.
- Online upload over 5 MB, or outside the 350 x 467 pixel JPEG under 3 MB listed by e-Services.

The application steps are on the DGI&P Passport Application Process page, and the online renewal photo rules are on the Online-Passport portal's Capturing your Photograph page (onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk/photo-requirements). The live portal refused our connection from outside Pakistan, so we read an archived copy dated June 2024 alongside the DGI&P e-Services page. The DGI&P FAQ adds that changing the photo in an issued passport means applying for a new one. Pakistan's e-Passport had a soft launch on 30 March 2022 and reached ordinary passports at all offices from 16 August 2023, per the DGI&P e-Passport page.

How to make it in 3 steps
- Take or choose a photo. Stand in front of a plain light wall in even light with no shadows, camera at eye level about 2 m away, head and shoulders in frame with space around your head.
- Crop with the head guides. The maker opens preset to the 35 x 45 mm standard with the official 32–36 mm head range marked. Drag and zoom until the crown of your head and your chin sit on the guides, then run the built-in photo check.
- Download. Save the single photo (for online uploads) or the 4 x 6 in print sheet, and print it at any photo shop, pharmacy photo kiosk or at home for the price of a regular photo print.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a Pakistani Passport Photo?
35 x 45 mm — 413 x 531 px at 300 DPI. The head must measure 32–36 mm from chin to the top of the head.
What background color does a Pakistani Passport Photo need?
Plain white.
Can I take a Pakistani Passport Photo at home with my phone?
Only if you are using the online passport renewal portal. For an in-person application at a Regional Passport Office or Pakistani mission, the photograph is captured at the counter, so you do not need to bring one. If you are renewing online through onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk (currently offered to applicants outside Pakistan), stand in front of a plain white wall in even daylight, have someone take a sharp, front-facing photo, then crop it to the exact 35 x 45 mm standard with the free maker before uploading.
Is this Pakistani Passport Photo maker really free and private?
Yes — completely free, with no ads, no watermark and no signup. Unlike photo-booth apps and paid services, your photo is processed entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to any server.
Where can I print my Pakistani Passport Photo?
Download the 4 x 6 in (10 x 15 cm) sheet and print it as an ordinary borderless 4 x 6 in (10 x 15 cm) photo at actual size (100%, no scaling) at a photo shop, a pharmacy photo kiosk, an online print service or on a home printer, then cut along the guide lines. You pay only for an ordinary photo print, not a photo-booth service fee. Local examples: Stationeria, Geonline. More detail: Printing passport photos in Pakistan.
