- In mainland China a neighbourhood photo shop (照相馆) or an online 冲印 order is the usual way to get a print made — do not count on finding a self-service photo kiosk in a convenience store the way you would in Japan or Taiwan.
- Chinese passport and visa applications commonly require a digital photo at an exact pixel size (a common spec is 33 x 48 mm content on a white background) submitted directly through the portal, separate from any physical print — check the exact spec of the portal you're using before assuming a printed sheet alone is sufficient.
- Self-service ID-photo kiosks (自助证件照机, e.g. Photo-Me, 证照通) are common in metro stations and malls, but they photograph you on the spot and print their own result for about ¥10-15 — they do not accept an already-made photo file, so they are a different, pricier alternative to printing your own passport-photo sheet.
